2nd Quarter Meeting Review

Our 2nd quarter meeting was amazing!!! I feel that the new quarterly schedule is going to work well. I'm so excited about the growth I felt last night, I hope all of you came out feeling as positive as I do. First as always I want to thank you all for being so vulnerable and brave! Each time one of us shares something intimate about ourselves it helps the whole group grow, and last night I think we all really stretched ourselves. Our meeting was centered on our physical health and having conversations around physical health. What we found out is the term physical health can be a very "heavy" term and can make many of us squeamish just thinking about it. Weather it is from past trauma around our bodies and lack of getting to choose our boundaries, or simply the expectation we feel from society. Sometimes I simply don't know what subject matter I am going to use for these meetings, so I typically pray on it and God put this on my heart, I had no idea that it would be such a loaded topic for us. It was needed! As we move into our upcoming months let's remember to:

  • give our bodies grace

  • try to embrace the present moments with our bodies to be aware of any distress your body may be in

  • above all stop judging our bodies

Often we judge our bodies for what they are not doing for us or because they don't fit society's expectations in that moment but our bodies show up for us day after day and often they know better than our minds what is best for us. It is our job especially as we age to show up for our bodies and become a partner to them, this is part of the journey of healing.

Thank you all for your participation last night and thank you for showing up even when the topic was daunting for you. Every time you show up you are helping someone. This group means more to me everyday and I'm so excited to see us grow as friends and possibly help many others do the same.

I deeply enjoyed our conversation and connection at the last meeting! I've added one more book recommendation below.

Jill one thing you discussed was how you wake up consistently early to protect time for yourself and to nurture your spiritual strength. I would love to see a blog article on tactics or tips on how to achieve this. I've desired for a long time to wake up early for this same reason. I love my snooze button and want to build better self discipline without the accompanying negative self-judgement.

Love the recommendation! Thanks so much Mel. I just wrote something about the way I’m handling my routine. I hope it helps.
